A London Bridal Shower- Tucson, Arizona

We had a gorgeous London themed bridal shower in Tucson, Arizona this past November. The shower was to be outdoors, we had landscapers and new furniture installed for a perfect outdoor shower. However, it seems rain follows me on any special occasion I might have... stay tuned for the wedding. But I did promise everyone a London theme so rain was quite appropriate for this occasion! My mom and sister Shelly did so much for the event. We had our favorite local restaurant catered our meal- butternut squash soup, seared shrimp in lemon butter saute, oven roasted pork loin, and goat cheese bruschetta with grilled veggies were served throughout the event by (as Marisa called them) "easy on the eyes staff". Chef T also made delicious cheese boards and my mom could not help herself and made her famous stuffed brie. I think my favorite little extra was the wine and champagne labels. We had a grooms red wine and a bride's white that my mom and I carefully selected (wine tasting!). My very talented cousin Katie made our delicious Red Velvet cupcakes, my Tia Lipa's recipe.

I felt so lucky to have so many people come to the shower. I had close friends from Phoenix come including my mentor teacher from my first year of teaching, Shirley. My mom's friends and family from New Mexico and Texas came for the occasion. The most honored guest was my grandma, she wore her facinator (British fancy hat) too! She made the photographer take this beautiful shot of her. She also had my aunt take her shopping to almost every store to find the fancy boots she wore.
Rain or shine, everyone had a wonderful time.

An Arizona Christmas

Hish arrived to Arizona and we wasted no time!

Hish originally bought his suit in London. However, when he took it to the dry cleaner to be properly steamed... they burned a hole in it! To his misfortune, the shop no longer had his size available anywhere in the UK. It took Hish two weeks to agree to all me to look for one in the US! Lucky for him, I found it only not his size. We agreed to buy the suit anyway, and Hish agreed to not eat until the wedding. Hish arrived on the 20th, we had four days to have his suit fitted. Hish's suit fit perfectly and the wonderful tailors had the work on his jacket done well before take off!
We did not originally intend on having a Christmas celebration with the wedding so soon after the holiday. However, once my dad and mom heard Hish got an earlier flight to Arizona, there was no stopping the family from a full on Christmas celebration.

Hish learned what Christmas was all about at our house... FOOD! Although it didn't take him long to stop questioning cookies for breakfast, he was grateful we always made it to the gym every morning.

We also were able to meet up with some of dearest friends and I even was able to introduce Hish to some of my extended family at a Christmas party.

This is the family at two of our favorite spots in town.
Finally it was time to say good-bye to Arizona. I left my dog and best friend Collins in the care of my dearest friends and family.

14 days till we say "I do!"

It's 14 days to the wedding!!!! Hish arrives one week from today and we could not be more excited! It has been 4 months since I last saw Hish. The first time he came to visit I picked him up from the airport and didn't recognize him! I had just had terrible corrective eye surgery and asked a man standing in front of me at baggage claim to please move, turns out I'm picking up that same stranger again next week to marry him.  Hopefully I will be able to spot him right away, but just in case I'll bring some glasses.
